If you are from an English-speaking country and planning a move to France, or you already live and/or work here and are looking to apply for French citizenship, for example, you will inevitably be asked to provide certified French translations of certain English-language documents. These may include birth and marriage certificates, bank statements, DBS checks, etc.
Under French law, these translations must be carried out by a court-appointed translator known in France as an expert judiciaire. A certified translation must also meet certain requirements in terms of form.
As an expert judiciaire for French and English registered with Agen Appeal Court, I am qualified to provide certified translations for the French authorities. Though paper translations are still required in some cases, many offices now accept electronic submissions. It is therefore important – particularly if you need your translation urgently – to establish the exact requirements of the requesting office.
You will need to provide me with a good-quality copy of your document (original, photocopy or pdf file). In turn, I will send you a duly certified official translation together with your document.
